Devon michigan is a writer, cook, artist, organizer, and scholar best known for the experimental sound art project 'the ghost taco'. They helped start underground music venues the ALF House, the Secret Location, and the Death Church in Vancouver and Montreal. her work explores how mundane and profane reality can be subverted in the service of radical interspecies egalitarianism and joy. Michigan was the singer of doom band 'Xothogua' and does vocals and sound collage for industrial band 'Nerve War'.Michigan is a fourth-generation working class settler raised on stolen Sto:lo land. They hold a BA Honours in Geography from Concordia University; a film & video production diploma from Capilano University; and smaller private training in multiple fields. A chapter based on her undergraduate thesis was recently published by routledge press (their third publication). Michigan maintains a private practice in lo-fi A/V arts, music, landscape ecology, and writing. she currently works as a caterer, contract arts administrator, and general witch on occupied Coast Salish Territories in so-called Vancouver.
